How many of your bookmarks are already dead?
Bookmarks never tell you when they die. Drop your export file: we knock on every link, one by one, and show you which ones no longer answer. Nothing is stored on our side.
Drop your bookmark file here
Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Pocket, Raindrop — HTML, CSV or JSON files.
The file is read in memory, never saved. We ask for no address.
Why a bookmark dies quietly
A bookmark holds an address and nothing else. When the shop delists the product, when the blog moves host, when the site closes, the address stays in your list and leads nowhere.
Nobody warns you. You find out the day you click, often years later, at the exact moment you needed it.
What this page does, exactly
We read your export file in memory and pull the list of addresses out of it. Then we knock on every door, the way a browser would: if the page answers “there is nothing here”, the link is lost.
A site that blocks robots, a page that is too slow, a paywall: those are not lost links, and we do not count them as such. We tell you we could not check.
Your file is not saved, no email address is asked, and you can leave with the list of your lost links without creating anything.
And for the next ones
A lost link cannot always be repaired. But it can be kept differently: Trouvé keeps the image, the title, the excerpt and your note of every page, on our side. The card outlives its address.
That is why this check is free and asks for nothing: the real answer to the problem is to stop keeping an address on its own.
Questions
Do you keep my bookmarks?
No. The file is read in memory to pull the addresses out, checked, then forgotten. Nothing is written on our side unless you then choose to keep those links in a library.
How many links can you check?
600 per file. Beyond that the share of lost links is already known, and a sample of 600 says the same thing as 3,000.
Can a link be called lost by mistake?
We only call a link lost when the site answers “there is nothing here”, or when the domain name no longer exists. Everything else is filed as “could not check”.
Can Trouvé repair a lost link?
Not yet. Trouvé keeps the image, the title, the excerpt and your note, so the find stays identifiable even when the page goes away. Automatic repair is what comes next.
